      Column on the right from top says 9 (don't know 2nd down, too worn) 4 and too lazy to go look up last one.

      Left column says Type 100.

      Regards, Rod

          Left column:
          "100 Type (Model)"
          Right column:
          "97 Infantry Mortar" The "+" on the back side indicates it is 0.5 to 1.5 percent over standard weight.

          There are 5 possible markings:
          ++ + +/- - --

          +/- indicates nominal weight, while ++ 1.5% to 2.5% over, and -- 1.5% to 2.5% under.

          Evidently this was to make up for variations in manufacturing variables. These weight indicators would be taken into account when aiming, to obtain the desired ballistics.

            That's great Geoff, thanks!

            Severely edited from the Axis Forum (words from the amazing contributor there Fontessa) 九七式歩兵曲射砲 Type 97 infantry mortar. And the shell is a high explosive one... (Fontessa again) Type 100 HE which Type 97 infantry mortar used.

            I though 曲 was a 4 but it's not.
