Here are two signatures from Futabayama. Both are consistent with each other but very different from what we see on the flag. All in all I would conclude that this flag is exactly the same as the Clark Gable flag, only less wild in the execution.

It seems that Guy likes the challenge of translating, and Nick prefers to give the insight / understanding of words, phrases, and context of characters. Just my take on it.
