    Japanese Soldier´s Pay Book and Cover

    Hi,

    Complet soldier´s pay book in hard outer case. Originally carried by Hirose Katsuicki od 20th Division Heavy Artillery.





    Please, any extra information to put in museum display?

            廣 is the older style which is also used in the same book

            Born in Ōsaka Prefecture [Ōsakafu]

            Born: Meiji nijū yon-nen [1901]

            Shigatsu Tsuitachi
            1st April
            [N.B. Calendar dates use the old-style counting system: 1st is always "tsui-tachi"; 4th is yo-ka; 5th is itsu-ka, 6th is mui-ka; 7th is nano-ka; 8th is Yō-ka; 9th is kokono-ka; 10th is Tō-ka; 20th is hatsu-ka.]

                      Interesting unit! It is the Masan Heavy Artillery Battalion which was a fortress artillery unit in the Busan (Pusan, Korea) port area. Cool!

                          Not really an artillery man, but a "human bullet", just like the title of the book you are reading. Within the shell, it is written 肉弾, literally meaning meat bullet/bomb. That simply was the registered trade mark of the company that made the private purchase pass book protective sleeve case.
