It's way too wide, pockets have no flaps or closure buttons or snaps. Not aware of any military issue ( note Showa date etc) money belt. I have a navy money belt. D rings only found on paratrooper coverall belt but those are painted red brown & are in a different position. Very unusual belt
Date Stamp:
At first, I thought it was: 昭和仐
Shōwa san
仐 is nonstandard for 傘 [kasa, umbrella].
So ... I wonder if 仐 might also be a nonstandard kanji for 10, which is sometimes written 拾? If so, this could be dated 1935. If not, perhaps this was for an umbrella?????
THEN it occured to me: the 和 does not look quite right; it might be a totally different kanji. The 口 is smaller than what I'd expect when compared to the 和 kanji. And if I squint real hard and look from a different angle (not a recommended technique!) ... perhaps that second kanji is 拾. There is that straight vertical line 亅, mouth 口, and something above the mouth 一 ????
昭拾仐
Shōwa Ju san
Shōwa 10 umbrella
Huh??????
[Here is where the Lone Ranger (Nick) rides in and saves the day.]
Even with it's length I believe it's a waist belt. Not hollowed out to accept anything other than pockets. MG related have straps with buckles. The D rings set it apart just don't know how
