    Question about sword damage

    Hello Guys,

I have seen several old katanas with this type of damage, In my opinion this type of damage can only be caused by a strike from another sword ..Whats your opinion?
    thanks,

I once bought a sword that had been used to kill goats
The blade edge looked like a saw!

In feudal battles, the back(mune) or side(ji) were used to deflect an opponents sword blow. Edge to edge blows would be rare and accidental.

My guess is the vets kids messing around. No samurai or Japanese officer would want to ruin their edge.

My father used to use the swords to trim bushes and cut down tree limbs in the 70s when he used to trade in all of this stuff...

another possibility is GI's playing sword fight.

Lots and lots of possibilities. The least likely of which is sword battle.
