IJN Farewell Flag ?

Hi ,
Forums help again please.
This offset "ray" flag is silk (so not ship use)
Either personnal flag for a shore based action or home send off flag used by family. Size is 41 1/2 inches x 29 1/2 inches. Corner tabs are gold coloured.
Clean under black light.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hello Russell,

Nice looking flag. Good size for display behind some Kai-gunto.

My guess is that it was used at a shore based installation of some sort. Too small for running up the flag pole I'd think but perhaps displayed in an administrative setting. I also don't see it as being a send off gift.
