                    Nice example ! Interesting use of leather on liner pads! Especially the early leather( smooth dark brown) combined with later pigskin

                          I am thinking this might be Kure base related with the kanji available. I think one of the kanji is washed out on the bottom of the helmet (anchor stamp also connects to Kure as well, although not directly to Kure naval base use).

                              呉六派
                              Yes, the first kanji is 呉 ko/kure -- and I also thought there might be a Kure base association. However, when I googled the entire phrase, I discovered that 呉六 is a proper noun. The family name makes sense when the 派 "ha" [faction] appended -- such as "Shimomura-ha", "Nakamura-ha", etc.
