Nick, interesting history about Okinawans working in the Philippines, first I have heard of it. Thank you.
Sammy T., Great collection of items. Love the rifle with bring back papers from Okinawa. The coins are a mix if early cash coins to wartime coins. The bowls, cups etc look to be mix of wartime Chinese and Japanese don't see any Okinawan type pottery. If you decided to let the rifle with bring back papers go I would be interested. Thanks for sharing.

The town of Mintal outside Dabaw was founded by, Kyozaburo Ohta, a Japanese industrialist, who needed land to accommodate his Okinawan workers. He acquired land from the local Chief and named the place Mintal 民多留, meaning a place where many people will settle. This became a Japanese town.
