    Another Old Japanese sword

This is the other sword that has been offered too me. It has been shortened a little and has a wooden scabbard. I have not dared remove the leather handle cover to see the handle itself or if there are any markings on the tang.

The blade has some flaws but I like it. If it were mine I would have to remove the grip to verify it is what it is.

Decent polish. Nice looking O-wakizashi. Considering the seller is being so specific about its origin and date I'd like very much to see the nakago. If it isn't black I wouldn't believe another word, if the file marks are too fresh it's not late koto period. Are there a couple of mekugi holes indicating remounting? Has the tang been shortened?

I think you need to see the nakago to get a better picture of the history of this piece.

                              Regards, Rod
