The cap was shipped early today. But here's some extra pics. What would the numbers "18" or "19" denote?

That would be the year the hat was produced or issued. Shōwa 18 would be 1943; Shōwa 19 = 1944

Contrast between exterior and interior (without flash).

The exterior is faded almost to white and while the interior in very green. And it does not appear to have been played with. In my honest opinion, this is a been there cap - a real tropical worn IJN type III officer.

I have no bone to pick with opinions on this thread, but I don't see any reason why the insignia couldn't have been replaced during the war. Looks like a well worn cap, I like it in that regard.
