    Full Dress Uniform Help

I just took this in and have never had one before. I would appreciate help as to rank and value. I think it is for a Captain rank, with one star on the shoulder boards.

This includes thew tunic, aigulette, sash and visor hat.

    Thank you for any help.

      Nice full dress uniform.

At a glance it appears that:

Shoulder straps are for a Major
Full dress hat is for a Lt. or Captain
The cuff and the collar of the uniform seem to be for Company officer or lower level officer rank.
The sash appears to be field officer grade.

The cuffs and collars I think varied across a few decades so someone with more knowledge of the cuff rank system and collar distinctions could probably clarify.

I think that hat with the plume might be pretty rare. At least I can't remember seeing very many.

I would be interested in the aiguillette if you were selling.

I could really use some help on the values of the individual components: tunic, hat, sash and aigulette. I am looking for reasonable prices that are fair to buyer and seller.

        Thank you,
        Bob

Can you post a close up of the brass tips of the Aigulette so i we can see the design? Should look like the photo for army.

Yes, they are of similar pattern, very heavy, but with loss of gilding.

Aren't the shoulder boards for a Lt?
The piping denoting the rank on the dress cap is for a Lt?
Also the piping on the cuff is for a Lt.

That's a Major's epaulette; it has two rows of braid. Company-grade used only one line of brade and looks (according to the Russo-Japanese chart image) about half as wide as a field grade epaulette.

Based on the two lines of braid on the base of the cap, I think it is for Captain:
Though the image is cut off, you can see the captain's cap on the top left margin ... barely:

EDIT: I just looked at your first image .... I think Bob Chatt is right, it is 1st Lieutenant.

I sure wish I had that poster. It sold on ebay earlier this year; I was able to download the images posted by the seller.

                      The frock is 2nd Lt.

                      The hat is 1st Lt.

The sash is for a field officer, frock is company grade.

Somebody mixed and match building this set.

I have a 1st lt. set, but only the hat is Capt though. Wore it to an event once.

It is really nice looking, but the value and demand isn't that high.

Thank you all very much. Looks like the family I bought this from did better than I will.
