The only one carachter (hardly seen) on the rim is the size ? large ?
The white letters... no idea ?

Helmet rim:
タ高津
Ta Takatsu

I suppose the painted タ is an abbreviation of his surname -- like we do on our military records folder jacket? I.e., [P] Power, Guy H.

Edit: I did Google タ高津 as a three-kanji-name, but didn't find anything; only タ. 高津 or [タ] 高津 -- apparently using the katakana for ordering/classifying.
