samurai sword for opinions

Hi Guys, here's another "samurai" sword I've been offered. I wasn't given much detail but can anyone tell if this is a WW2-era or pre-WW2 sword? The wrappings seem too new but maybe it was just stored well. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a modern Chinese fake.

These have come up before for review. I believe it's fair to say that most folks feel they are reproductions but some to believe they are late war pieces.

The ones similar to this that have WW2 provenance have a different silver tsuba than the one on this sword. These swords were likely field made on mainland Asia.

Thanks Bob and Stu. Looks like I'll pass then. The seller is rather vague on its provenance and I'd only buy if had no red flags.

Wise decision. It's covered in red flags. The only discussion would be around the shade of red.
