Hello everyone.
This is a flag, which I recently bought from california
What do you think?
There are some spots that look like old blood.
Can anyone help me to translate?
The fabric looks like silk, on two corners there are reinforcements in leather, with laces of hemp seem.

It is authentic and came from a village called Kusaka Village, but this name exists in Tottori Prefecture as well as in Kochi Prefecture. Impossible to tell which as there are no other clues.
It has no name of the owner.

I'll just add that the large kanji across the top are a slogan, the meaning of which is translated and displayed in the kanji translation thread pinned to the top of this sub forum.

Thanks for the replies and for making me notice the thread of translation. I can not find symbols and combinations as in my flag. the small kanji are signatures?

I realized that a symbol alone has a certain meaning, but when combined with others can totally change.

The symbol in the middle of the 5 characters at the top, is the symbol "Ki" which means to pray, or praying for. That added to the 2 characters on the right and 2 on the left of it, all ads up to, "Ki Buun ChouKyuu", or praying for eternal fortune in battle. Its less common to see the "Ki" character placed in the middle of the "Buun ChouKyuu", it's more commonly found at the end, as the first character. That's why it looks out of place to you.

Yes, and perhaps I should have been more informative with my response. It was not my intention to hold back but rather to get you interested, as I have become, in deciphering what these flags have to say.

I should warn you that collecting these flags can be addictive. I started with just one for my display. I still have one display but ended up with over two dozen flags.

Thank you, you have been very kind for helping me! I sent photos of the flag to a colleague of my father's, Japanese, he translates the rest of the entries.
I can understand what you mean dear Stu, you always start with one and then two, three, four ....... this is the first for me, but I'd like to have more, they are all different, each with its own story.
here in Italy we say: "if certain things could talk, they would tell who knows what"
