We are having our house remodeled so I don't have computer access and for some reason it won't let my phone load them. What's your email and will send you pics if you really don't mind.

Nice example of a "modified type 45" uniform. The jacket was a slight modification of the 1912 style type 45 uniform, which was introduced in 1918. With the end of the war, came the need to slim down the army and that allowed them at the same time to raise the bar for physical criteria in selecting new recruits. Thus the new soldiers were generally of better constitution than the earlier generations, which required a general refitting of all the 6 standard sizes to avoid unseemly wrinkles, etc. They did remove the colored piping of the type 45, but otherwise the modified type 45 was merely adjustments to size and cut. Your jacket is issued in 1920, so it is duly marked as a "modified type 45" , but the pants are actually from 1917 and marked "type 45". These pants would have thus originally come with red piping in the leg seam, but they were later removed to comply with the "modified type 45" specs of 1918. The jacket is also marked size 6, the smallest size.

Getting harder to find good condition Type 45 kit.

Interesting how collectors of Japanese militaria seem to go back and forth between WW2 and WW1 without much hesitation, whereas there is such a high wall between those areas of collecting in German militaria.

Nick thank you very much for the great info. As far as collecting Japanese stuff. I like it all. Japanese military stuff is very interesting or fascinating to me. Hope on day to buy a antique suit of armor.
                          Thanks again Nick.
