    Canteen Question

    I wanted to post this photo to get some opinions on this canteen it is the first one I have come across with this kind of "Label" on the webbing.Does anyone know how often they are encountered and their purpose?

    You see similar " labels" on helmets rear chinstrap pass through. Awaiting translation !

            ニシムラ (Ni Shi Mu Ra) - Another form of Japanese writings of Nishimura.

            War time writing - ラムシ二 (Left to Right)

            Modern Writing - ニシムラ (Right to Left)

            On the strap stamped 1940 made. 昭和 15 - Shouwa 15.

            Very nice matching canteen !

                  Could it be M-95 = Model 1935? Reasoning: if an M-99 anti-tank mine = 1939 fielding date; then an M-95 canteen should = 1935 .... right????

                  Nah! .... that wouldn't be inked-in onto a piece of webbing .... would it?
