Hello,

This sun hat belongs to a friend of mine and he was wondering what the kanji on the outside of the helmet means.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are just military acceptance stamps on the inside with military labels...nothing as unique as what is on the outside of the helmet.

I suppose it is impossible to say with certainty that the number on the back of the helmet is the unit number, but if it is, the soldier who used this helmet belonged to the 56th Division Water Supply and Purification Section last located in Burma.
