I am sure most are familiar with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the highly honored Japanese-American infantry regiment in WWII. However, much to your shame, you have probably never learned of the Swedish-Japanese Ersatz Samurai Bushido Battalion that served the Emperor in semi-glory in the pacific. Subsisting solely on Akvavit flavored saki and sushi meatballs, they boldly protected the isle of Herring Jima. Bypassed by the war, they unfortunately survived to a man.

Tom: I warn you, we will be competing in this auction; and I am willing to go to $276 if I have to. You see, in the Ersatz-Bushido tradition these soldiers vowed not to surrender to American invaders, unless someone suffered a painful flesh-wound. If the British were invading, the Swedish-Japanese Brigade would commit suicide. After seeing what Brits eat on purpose, no way were they gonna eat British POW food.

Thank you for sharing! I feel there should be a film about this amaizing story. Sweddish Tokkōtai ersatz bushido helmets will raise a lot of money soon, we should take them all when they are so 'cheap' ...
