? Masa Tsugu The first character of the smith's name is 90% gone due to a second hole being drilled in the nakago. Very unusual for a war time blade. It indicates a lack of craftsmanship fitting mounts to the blade.

I'm guessing the first kanji obliterated by the mekugiana is "ki/nori" 紀. I see elements of the thread/ito "radical" 糸.
