    Japanese Admirals Flag

I just got this Japanese Admirals Flag and was wondering what it was used for. It is a lot smaller than the other ones I have in my collection. It measures about 51 3/4" x 33 1/2". It has a small paper tag on the edge of it. Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, CHUCK

Here's a response that Jareth wrote [regarding a rear admiral flag] some years back, on a different forum:

They also made navy rank flags in the swallow tail pennant style. All these flags had a very short life (because they were constructed of seperate sections) span. Under strong winds & harsh weather they were replaced often. I personally do not find these flags rare. Some collectors like the large flags as back drops or for display. I prefer the medium to small size navy flags. I'm doubtful that a ships name or commanding officer's name would be on these flags. Ocassionally you will find a small rice paper makers label attached.

I'm guessing your flag is the smallest and used for a ship's launch.
