A wounded NCO Sword brought home by a wounded NCO

Here's a sword that came with a group of items from a pacific theater vet. The sword has a little battle damage that doesn't detract much aesthetically.

I found it kind of interesting.

I'm awaiting more information from the family about where the vet was wounded because that may be where he picked up the sword.

Whenever I look at swords with damage I think to myself - "If only it could talk". Thanks for posting.

    Regards,

The damage gives it lots of character.

You wouldn't want to have been wearing it, for sure.

The sword probably rang like a bell! Whatever hit the sword may well have hit the soldier, or was closely followed by something that did.

A collector at the show told me that it looked like blood residue in some of the diamonds. I am always a bit hesitant to call anything blood.

Here are a few more shots in natural light for all that have asked.

The blade has some minor rust and looks like it had a cleaning long ago (before the rust). There are also some miniscule taps to the edge of the blade.
