Hi guys. I will soon have this helmet and wanted to get some help from the experts translating the KANJI painted inside the brim. Really appreciate it.

Looks like Matae (俣江), a family name. Not 100% sure, though.

You are 100% correct! I had to go to a Chinese source, though. These pre-1945 kanji kill me.
