thoughts on this police sword

Hey guys,

I've got a friend offering me this police sword.

He's looking to get 130$ out of it.

Just wondering if there's any issues with it and if this is a desirable piece I could use in a trade down the line.

The blade is cleaner than I'd expect from something this age and has no markings on it otherwise I'm not really that suspicious.

So it's army , not police, got it.

There's 3 dings in the scabbard around the area you'd expect it to get slammed in a door.

Other than the dings and the wire on the grip is this a good buy?

I would still talk him down. I got mine for $80 and it has a family crest (Mon). Of course I may have gotten a deal on mine. Was not in the market for one and had the chance to pick mine up for the decent price.

I believe you will have a difficult time trying to use it in trade on a later date. They are plentiful and not of a type collected by the majority of militaria enthusiasts. If it was undamaged and something you wanted for yourself then paying that price might be worth it. As it is not I'd pass it by.

I will be keeping an eye out for a better and more attributable example of this sword for a more reasonable price.
