JAPANESE WWII MARTIAL SILVER COIN w/ HELMET, RIFLE, SWORD ID HELP...

Hello forum. I came across this piece in a much larger estate group. I'm sure I've seen this design before, but can't recall if it was on a "coin" or medal of some sort. It looks, feels and "sounds" like silver, and is roughly the size of an American silver dollar. Can anyone id this piece for me along w/ its composition (if other than silver)? Many thanks in advance. A few snaps below...

That is a ! Yen silver coin minted in China by the occupying Japanese on the occasion of the second Shanghai Incident of 1937. It says comemorating the conquering of China.

It should weigh 26.8 g. It looks cast and make sure the reeding is constant and not over lapping. The details are lacking too especially on the junk boat. There are a lot of copies around.

Thanks gents. The reeding appears consistently vertical (not appearing as two halves w/ a horizontal center seam, etc.). The details are actually quite nice in person, but due to my pretty abysmal camera and less than satisfactory lighting, the photos probably don't really do it any justice. Safe to assume it's .800 silver? Thanks for the help!

You can compare it this ebay link with the reverse of this coin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yr-23-1934-R...item58abdb7e79

Thanks for the link, however, the coin you reference is a pre-invasion piece, totally different. I don't know if this would be a good basis for precedent regarding this particular piece, being that the die would've been re-designed / re-engraved, I'd imagine...

You can see the cast mark around the edge

Hi Nick. Are you referring to the obverse / reverse circumference or the reeded edge? It most certainly looks and sounds like silver. Were the knockoff's made of silver as well? If you have a photo reference of a known reproduction, I'd be interested to see it so I can compare notes. Thx.

                  Hello
If you have a set of scales weigh it
I guess it will be around 16 grams
                  An original is 28
                  Nick
