Baby Nambu Holster

I'd be obliged for comments on the seal at the top of the retaining strap on this Baby Nambu holster. What do the kanji characters mean?

It's a cap badge from a junior high school.

Would you say that it is period to the holster? The leather shows discolouration around it.

I think it was done by a vet after the war.

[Lampwick]

I would prefer the more romantic idea that the officer who wore it was an Old Boy of the said Academy.
