Propaganda poster: Roosevelt VS Mitsubishi G4M1.

    Hello everyone,
This is the latest addition to my collection, a japanese propaganda poster with such an impressive anti-Roosevelt artwork, showing him like a monster, facing a japanese Mitsubishi G4M1 bomber.

I would like to share the picture with you, this is the first time I saw this particular poster.

Unfortunatly it cames without translation so if someone could land a hand with the slogan I will be very grateful!

Hope you will enjoy the picture as much as I do!

Thank you for looking, I will add some better pictures of the red writings ASAP.

    Hi Mathieu-san,

That is a very striking poster! Something I myself would like to own.

    Here are the translations:

    Far right:
米鬼断じて打つべし - Must hit hard/defeat the U.S. demons.

    Far left:
    日本人を殺せ! Kill the Japanese!
日本人を地球から抹殺せよ! Obliterate the Japanese from the Earth!

    Bottom:
造れ 送れ 飛行機を - Make them Send them the airplanes

I can't read the words in orange.

    Regards,
    Taka

      Hi again Taka-san!

Thank you very much for your comment and effort with translation.

I couldn't resist when I saw it, another seller has some very, very nice navy recruitment posters, two of them in manga style from an artist who also make aikoku postcards and satyric comics in newspapers. The navy posters were from the house of a (the?) former navy youth director in Japan.

It was a hard choice but I took this one because I can enjoy the satyric artwork even without the knowledge of the kanji.

Now with your translation I enjoy it ten times more! ^^

Please don't hurt your eyes with orange kanji, you too Guy-san if you read this lines.
I will be able to post pics of them when I will be back home on friday.

      Dômo arigato!

I'm still pissed because I missed a nice NLF helmet in my hometown for 780$, France is not the best place for collecting Japanese militaria.

I can't agree more! Beware of Leboncoin too, some time ago I saw an IJA paratrooper helmet ... In fact the seller has stolen some picture from germanmilitaria. Didn't have any helmet at all I believe.

Thanks to this forum I was able to find the original collector of the helmet who is a member here so I didn't fall into the trap!

Great poster with terrific graphics! Hope you'll consider framing it properly to better protect it for the next collector

Hello Jareth, thank you for your comment!
I will definitly get it framed properly, I mean with anti UV glass and proper acid free backup.

I have a contact with a paper restorator on Paris who do canvas mounting with proper material. It is quite simple but I will be more confident if she take care of it. She also know what to do to fix the wrinkles. I have to bring it to her so she can tell me how much time and money it will cost and after I could make it framed properly.

To be honest I hope I would never have to sell it. I am more into giving it to the french army museum where they have a great collection of propaganda posters, but it seems that this one is lacking to the collection.

Great to hear your plans. You might want to have it prepared & framed exactly as per museums other posters

As far as possible yes, believe me, it will be even better than musuem quality, you don't see anti uv glasses everywhere, even for priceless master paintings ...

Wainting the canvas mounting and the frame, it is properly stored at home!

Thank you very much to you Taka-san for your translation of this poster! I will remember this aviation kanji now.

It makes me think of the US counterparts, you know the "Keep ' em flying" ... "Daddy helps build them" or "For god's sake send planes!".

Hello FightenIrish > Thank you for your kind word, I'm glad you like it
