Japanese Navy Dagger
Hello Forum Members,
I received this dagger as part of a trade, but I did not realize that the dagger was so much shorter than the scabbard. Has any one else seen this on Japanese Navy daggers, or is any one sure that this is a mis-matched set. The blade is much nicer than what you usually see come with these, not the best, but pretty nice.
It just bothers me that the blade is so much shorter than the scabbard, any one have an opinion on this, if it was German I would say 100% that it is mismatched, and given the leather scabbards, I know they beak off and get dammaged.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Hi Jack -- I'm not a collector, but I did a Google Image Search for Japanese Navy Dagger and most of the images show the blade like yours: shorter than the actual scabbard. Most of the scabbards I saw look like they are about three-quarters of the overall dagger length.
