Any idea what this case was for?

I took pictures of this while at War Relics Shop in Millsboro Del. As you can see, it ended up in the possession of a Marine Lieutenant. Anyone know what it was used for and what the writing says and what the red markings are? Thanks, Ron.

Hello Ron, that's a nice box.
The leave design is linked to medical thing. You may have seen it on bandage for example.
But not sure if it is only for soldier's medic or also used with veterinary items.
Can't help more, sorry!

It is a box used by a veterinarian unit of the IJA. Probably not a ton of those floating around, very nice find!

I do not know how 獸醫 is correctly pronounced. [EDIT: Modern Japanese 獣医 Jūi = veterinary]
