Japanese Blade?? Need info

This is at a local auction and are the only pics I have. I know nothing about Japanese blades. Can someone give me some guidance on this before I place a bid? All help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, this purports to be a WWII Chinese Dress Dagger. Not an area I collect so I can't say if it is authentic but it looks like it has a chance. Good luck.
