I wouldn't touch that helmet, to me it looks like forced ageing as well , also the retention
doc/certificate is written in pencil, I rather see typed wording from a typewriter.

I've never seen a UK "Battle trophies" certificate before today . and this is the second one I have seen in 4 hrs. both on ebay and both different, I was always told that we ordered to not collect war souvenirs so a certificate that allows you to be in possession of something strikes me as odd.

and I've just checked and its an item from the same seller. ebay item no 390698602460

but the handwriting is different on both although they are both down as POW comp 2 from different officers. I'm not saying that it is a fake just that in 10 years of collecting in the UK I haven't seen one.

Soon, this piece will be either back on X-bay, at some shows selling/displaying as a genuine IJA helmet, or even post in this forum asking for opinions.
