Japanese wooden box ?

Seen this box in a antique mall. The tag said WWII Japanese. Anyone know what the metal tags on the box says. Cool looking box. But the price tag was $125.00.

Seems it's for IJN 二式通信器 ( Niishiki Tsuushinnki) - Type Two Communicator.

For $125 seems reasonable, at least both plates present and the condition of the books looks very good.

I am probably 100% wrong, but somewhere in the back of my little brain I *think* the Type 2 "Communicator" is a small handheld electric signal lamp. I have one and I'm almost positive that's the designation (but I could be and am probably wrong). I'll have to try and dig it out.

Neat box though whatever it is!
