    Type 98 Ammo Crate

    Trying to figure out what was in here aside from it's post-war use for chawanmushi.

    Sometimes just being able to read it isn't enough.

    HA! The last photo says "chawanmushi" -- steamed custard. Obviously an "after market" application.

        Most surviving WWII crates owe their existence today to being useful for something else post-war.
