Surveying equipment ID?

Hey guys, I received this piece of surveying equipment last weekend when I purchased the NLF helmet and canteen. Can anyone identify what it was used for? It appears to be something for surveying, but I am not sure.

Well, I can't find a decent picture of one but it's part of a mortar sight.

Do you know what mortar that is? 81mm perhaps?

I think that is an 81mm. I'm not 100% sure but I think this type of sight was used on the 81mm on up, pretty much mortars that are large enough to have a range that are not in direct sight of the target.

I only wish I had half the luck in finding the stuff you come up with!
