Japanese Rifle Scabbard

I not really familiar with Japanese militaria, but I know this is a rifle scabbard . What gun would this scabbard hold and was it for horse mounted or something else. Most of the straps are broken in some way but the leather is in good shape otherwise.

I am unfamiliar with the case and the marking ... are you sure that the case is Japanese?

I take back my initial statement. I have doubts that it is a Japanese scabbard at all. The stamp looks nothing like it should or the case for that fact. Chances are its an old gun case with a flower stamped on it.
