Another Medal

Hello, I have it around here some where, It might have waves, just not as pronounced. But here is another medal, I keep on seeing on the minefield we call fleabay. In my book it says very few of these were awarded and most were destroyed, but they are all over ebay ???
Does anyone know about these ? Just for my education of the day.

Jack, this is a post war replica of Great East Asia War Medal.
This one was custom-designed by organization Nihon Gouyuu Renmei (patriotic organization “Friends of the Homeland”) in 1979 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the end of the Great East Asia War.

Bar inscribed “Commemorative Medal”

Reverse inscribed

Upper rim “Great East Asia War”
 
Lower rim “December 8th, Showa 16 – August 15th, Showa 20”
