Found this in my local flee market this morning, i havent seen a lot of table medallions produced by the Japanese , so without being able to read the script ill go by the image, im thinking this is an early China war related item going by the early bomber and the chap dead on the floor with a sword, what id really like is a translation of the text please, cheers for now, Pete.

And regarding the broad sword on the Chinese soldier's back -- the Chinese were first to use swords in the "Great East Asia War"; not the Japanese.

I believe that this medallion came with another to make a set of two. The other has a Japanese officer on the front. The ones that I have seen in the past have a blackened metal with the soldier and officer contrasted in a gold color. I don't know if different styles of this medallion were produced over the course of the war, but it seems as if more than one style has popped up over time.

I used to own one while I was in Canada.
I was once read an article that only little more than 300 such medals were produced.
By the way, the bomber on the medallion is an IJA Mitsubishi Ki-2.

Painted by artist 小池繁夫 Sigeo Koike.
