Rising Sun Flag
Hello forum Members, I like this flag, but I do not have any in my archives that have the grommets like this one. Has anyone else seen a Rising Sun flag with corner grommets like this. I thank all that reply to this. The size is 41.5 X 57.25 inches.. Jack

The gromets are not typical, I don't recall ever seeing them on any Japanese "personal" flags- but these are "commercial" flags made by MANY differant makers....everything else is typical, pretty much what you'd expect....but dating these has always been problematic.... they were making and selling these durning the occupation and long after (to GIs & anyone interested)....(unchanged really)...and probably still are?
So "is it WW2" is the real question.....and without solid provenance it's hard to tell....I'd say probably....but wouldn't mortgage the farm to buy it.... cost would be the major consideration IMO.

After going back more than 10 years in my archives, I did find a flag with grommets like this, it was actually a pair of them.
