Another Flag Thread!

Since all the flags are coming out I thought I might as well post this now.

I have had this flag for quite a while.
The only info I have on it is that it is later war as it is not silk and has paper tags. And I know it has the usual 'Good Fortunes of War' title, though backwards I think.
I am still getting to grips with Kanji so really the only thing I can note on the flag is "kunuki katsume" or similar.

But I would greatly appreciate even the slightest info just so I know for the future. It seems to have a good amount of different handwriting styles.



I have oriented the writing correctly. Sorry if the pictures funny camera is utter ****e in dim situations.

Looks like a great period authentic Yosegaki Hinomaru (Good Luck flag) to me. As for the slogan being backward, older writing was done right to left. Later it shifted to left to right. Nothing to worry about.

Some of the better readers of kanji will perhaps be along to give you some of the names of well wishes who signed the flag.

Just out of curiosity what is the flags measurements ? I have large one mounted in a black japanese type frame from luzon(but silk) . Yeah seems there is a lot of flags being posted lately.

Pretty much exactly 100x70cm

In hindsight flash would had been a much better choice. But it's almost 5am so I'm off to bed now.

Just having a look around I see they vary in sizes. Are there any meaningful differences in the size of these flags?
As my own is 39.3x27.5 inches where there are smaller ones at 17x14 inch.

Flags (these types of personal flags anyway) were not issue items, they came in various sizes from various manufacturers in various levels of quality. The size doesn't mean anything until you're trying to frame one.
