Need opinion on IJN helmet anchor badge

Scott, are you sure that one badge is solid copper? I have seen original brass badges with a copper plate base coat. They then had nickel plate over the top. The copper under coat gives the top nickel coat more durability. At some point I guess they simply cut the copper plate base coat step out?

Forgot to mention that there is a rare badge variant where the mum looks like a snowflake. You can see it in the last pic Jim posted. It is the nickel plated badge on grey helmet. Those are the real deal and IMO rare. I took to calling them the snowflake pattern because that is exactly what they look like. There was one on the Tarawa hate belt on ebay (pictured here on another thread). I think there was another on the hate belt lets go 82nd got. Jeremy's belt was very impressive as it had a very wide variety of badge variants. It would be a good item for badge study. I hope he kept it together.

The seller did not respond to my request for a refund, so I have taken the case up with Ebay. I am not out a lot of money, but sellers who knowingly sell fakes as originals cannot be allowed to get away with it. Thanks again, folks, for the help!
