It depends on the blade. Sashikomi has the tendency to hide much of the subdued activity in older blades from the Kamakura and Nambokucho period. Many collectors prefer sashikomi polish on Edo period blades as they have less hamon activity and more flamboyant temper lines. I personaly can appreciate traditional polish on blades from any era. It is a personal decision from collector to collector.
