Imperial ? Sea Rescue Badge
Hello Forum Members, Were these Japanese Imperial Sea Rescue badges WWII or earlier or is it one that is still awarded today. If it is still awarded today, can anyone tell if this is a old one, or any date on the lid of the case. Thanks Jack

Hi Jack,
It was first established in 1889 as 大日本帝国水難救濟會 (Dai Nippon Teikoku Suinan Kyusaikai) - Great Imperial Japan Sea Rescue Association. In 1904 changed the name into 帝国水難救濟會 (Teikoku Suinan Kyusaikai) - Imperial Sea Rescue Association. Finally in 1949 ~ Present as 日本水難救済会 (Nihon Suinan Kyusaikai) - Japan Sea Rescue Association.
On your example reads 帝国水難救濟會, so might be in between 1904~1949.
