Late war IJN helmet for your review

    any issues? thank you

I don,t know these late war IJN helmets very well, but I see a couple things that concern me. It looks like the liner and strap has been replaced with a set from an IJA helmet. it looks like the leather band has a punched size mark at the rear like an IJA liner, and the pointed chinstrap ends like an IJA helmet as well.
those are the two things I would want to get clarification on. Take it with a grain of salt, as I only have a basic understanding of these helmets. others here will know for sure if this is an accepted combination. If all turns out ok, then I think you did we'll on the price.

I go with Paul on liner and chinstrap.

I agree on chinstraps. This late the ends should just be sewn straight across & not tipped. If it's an army liner it's a late one. Inquire if there are ink stamps on pad reverse.

The liner band has to be 2 parts sewn together front and rear.

Here is what I was hoping to see with regards to the chinstrap ends. These pictures are Roberts from his thread on a similar helmet.

Good call frame. The type of leather is also specific to navy. One looker naval liner Imo.

I see what you mean about the leather being different. This is the area that caught my eye. I thought I saw a punched size stamp, but probably just some other mark / scratch.

To me it looked like a partial punching of the size "large" with a shallow or missing right side.

ok, here it is in hand. no size perforation on the liner band, no ink stamp on liner pad pockets, front or the other two, and yes, the liner is sewn from two pieces. the padding is straw.

also, note the stamped 993T on top of the inside dome...never seen that before.

now what about the chinstrap? thank you

I like it, The liner looks like a legit Navy! I believe the strap is an Army style, maybe replaced during the war?? field rplacement?? Its an original strap.

good chance this is an early yellow stencil anchor prior to switching over to later variation chinstraps

what does the '993T' inside dome stamping mean? is this like a batch number on German helmets? i've never seen this on any Japanese lids... thank you
