Who can help me with this pants? Manufactured 1943. Unusual is for sure the odd rear pocket. Could it be naval?

Very strange trousers, these
Tag reads
Size 3
Showa 18
Hiroshima Depot
Except for the pocket and the peculiar green lining they appear to be normal Type 98 Keihosen.
Did it have A oval tag with kanji in it? 三式=Type 3 or 九八式=Type 98?
Or a tag that says 陸 or 陸式 (Army/Army type, stamped on Army gear used by navy).
Maybe these are Tankists trousers or something like that, I'll look it up in the manufactory manual book.

very odd pants! the green material used to reinforce waist area looks like those late war green tropical tunics. If it was for a specialized unit at this point in war both tanker/paratroopers were almost obsolete & using standard gear. The seaborne trooper pants had two rear pockets. Maybe an earlier variation?

I assume the back side of the pocket flap uses the same green material as well.
(Photo # 2).
I've seen some late war army pants with back pocket, but without the flap. Maybe went further modification during 1944? The example above is 1943...
Maybe for Petty Officers ( 下士官 - Kashikann). Too many variations when comes to Japanese uniforms.
This one is an oddball piece.

Taka

Could this be a prisoner's trouser? I have what I know now, a cotton "Prisoner of War (short sleeve version) Tunic" like the one in Mike Hewitt's book. It has the army block stamp with date etc. but lacks the type of trousers (Type 98, Type 3) that is stamped above it. Here's another thread about POW tunic: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...prisoner+tunic
There's no mention of one being made of wool, just cotton.

I tried looking at the Cadet uniforms which have similar breast pockets, but in 1945 manufacture guidelines the trousers had no such "cargo" pocket.
