Originally posted by RCEKiller NLF lid Eric, love Navy helmets ...could you please tell me what else is attached to the netting along with the palm leaves?
Mixed in with the palm leaves is some native grass. I have several other netted helmets as well as a body net with this same type of native grass. Glad you liked the photo of the Navy helmet.

I have a chance to buy a type 90 army helmet with a helmet cover. The cover is in good shape but the cloth star is missing. The helmet itself only has about 25% of its paint left, the star and liner are intact but the chin straps are gone. Just estimating what would any of you pay for such a piece? (Rick)

Nice, complete, original Army Model 90 steel helmet covers turn up in the $600 to $800 range every now and again. A cover without an insignia should be roughly half that price in my opinion (i.e., $300 to $400).
Note: I have owned such a cover before (i.e., one without an insignia) and had no luck whatsoever finding a replacement insignia. (I had to settle for an Army winter fur cap insignia instead.) Also, there are a bunch of reproduction helmet covers on the market so be sure the cover is a good one.
Insofar as the helmet, I would say that it sounds like a $200 piece in my opinion.
With that said and done, it sounds like the helmet and cover your looking at should be priced around the $500 figure in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
