Japanese sakan engineering officer full dress sword belt

A very nice and vary rare sword, does anyone know of any books that go into detail on Imperial Japanese Dress items or belts and buckles.

I don't have mine at hand but would think Dawson's updated work will include info on both the belt and buckle.

Hi I would use cotton string for reshaping instead of rubber bands. The tend to melt on items.

Belt and Buckle

Hello, I am not trying to reshape it, just easily making it flat to take Insurance photo records, I have a full dress tunic and funky Naval cap and the big shoulderboards to go with it and it is going to go on a mannequin as soon as I find another one.
But you are right, rubber bands over time can also bleed color over to whatever they are attached too, they are not on it now.
