Hi Bruno, here are some snapshots of the same stove with accessories in a Japanese book regarding Japanese Army Cookware. It is definetly period WWII or Earlier. Would think that it was used in large tents/bunkers. In the illustration, you can see mess kits and canteens hanging on it. Maybe someone can translate it for you to expand on its use. I noticed that yours is dated Showa 13. Hope this helps. Regards, David.

            Well done David!

            Thank you for the information.

Type 95 tent heater, it is for extreme cold climate.

Other than warming the soldiers, it is also used for heating up canteens or mess tins.

Very interesting winter/field item. (But takes up quit a lot of space)

            Best regards,

            Taka

Bravo David! I agree! Neat item if you've got the space. certainly would make a great cold climate display.

Bruno showed this to me in an email and I was skeptical...the tools didn't even seem Japanese in character. Sorry Bruno...good thing you posted it here. Like others I have never seen anything like it.
