Japanese Naval Combat Helmet - is it real?

I would sincerely appreciate any opinions as to the authenticity of this helmet and its Naval insignia. Is it a real Naval helmet? Thanks, John

From what i can see, the helmet looks to be Navy but the Anchor is a Reproduction.

            real navy fake badge

It seems to be a naval helmet. The liner looks like a naval liner. There might be painted numbers in the inner dome. There might be a small embossed anchor mark somewhere on the liner band. This helmet shows promise. Orignal naval badges turn up on ebay from time to time. We need to see the other side of the front pad and close ups of the liner band. Is there indeed a number painted inside the dome of the helmet?

I agree that helmet looks good. If your selling or trading I might be interested as I have a few original badges. JB your expertise is needed over on gunboards regarding ceramic mine/spittoon

I've had a number of collectors interested in this helmet, but don't know what a fair retail price for this consignment item would be "as is" with the reproduction anchor insignia. Anybody know? Here are photos of what appears to be an anchor marking on the leather liner band, and painted markings inside the helmet.

                      real

prices of badges vary, $200 to $300 but I could be wrong. The anchor mark is for Kure Naval base. The issue number seems to be 5111. This is a real helmet but replacing the badge the value takes a hit.
