Meiji era Japanese Naval officer caps-Have any knowledge to share?

Japanese Ordnance is my passion but I collected Japanese WWII naval headgear for years. I do not own these caps, I know so little about early Meiji Naval officer caps that I chose not to bid on these. They appear to be very early, Probably Pre WWI era. These pictures come from overseas auctions. Does anybody have early Meiji era naval officer caps and are willing to educate us about what is correct and orignal? I can't even be sure the caps in these pictures are correct. I am very curious about these.

I really don't know how correct these caps are. None of these are current auctions. The pictures are several years old. Opinions please!

The upper cap looks to be a DAF 'Festival Cap' that's been changed to Japanese at some point.

Yes, great caps but wow, trying to find any decent information on them in English is next to impossible! One of the best resources I've found on these caps are some of the great photo books printed shortly after the Russo-Japanese War. I think the book by Colliers (?) has some amazing, very crips photographs of Japanese navy officers that show the details of their caps nicely...but still not the best.
But now, at least, I know who has been bidding against me when they pop up on ebay!
