Japanese Belt Identification Needed

Hi,
this came with a lot of Japanese stuff all military. Is this a belt for military purposes and if so what purpose. Its large enough to use as a belt for trousers 110cms. Belt all canvas with leather keeper. The puttees pictured are some of the same lot.

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't NCOs have gotten EM trousers and therefore used the drawstrings???

Not meant to hold pants up but to hold gear like ammo pouches and bayonet. Kind of like the us pistal belt is used.
