IJA Officer's visor

What's your opinion about the star on this officer visor? The thing concerns me is the prong was a little off and exposes as shown in the second photo. These are the only photos I have from the seller so I apologzie for not able to provide any clearer photo. What is your best judgment about the star based on these photos? Thanks , Lonnie

Judging from the picture this cap appears original. If you were to remove the star and move it closer to the center of the band you might have to punch a new hole for the split pins. These caps are very common but they are reproduced. This one looks period. Its an officer cap. Typically the officer linings are high quality cotton or silk while enlisted caps have a coarsly woven burlap lining with a black square ink stamp. Before buying this ask for a picture of the lining. Keep this in mind. Ebay often has several original japanese army officer caps listed at any given time.

The star position looks ok, seems the chinstrap moved in the first picture.
